About The Swan Series.....

I’ve always been drawn to all things mid-century — the films, the clothes, the interiors, the color, and that particular kind of glamour that somehow felt both polished and effortless. Classic movies are almost always playing in the background while I paint, and over time that world has become such a natural part of the way I see color, composition, and atmosphere.

The idea for this series grew from that fascination and my longtime interest in Truman Capote and his “Swans” — women known not only for their beauty and style, but for the worlds they created around them. Beautiful homes, elegant tables, carefully considered details, cocktail hours, dinners, weekends away, and the art of bringing people together all became part of their mythology.

That part especially resonates with me. I’ve always loved the idea that a home can be another creative canvas — that the way you set a table, choose a color, arrange a room, dress for dinner, or welcome people in can be its own form of expression.

Swans felt like the perfect subject for that world. They’re elegant, sculptural, and graceful, with a presence that feels both timeless and a little theatrical. Each painting is named for a different figure from Capote’s circle and is meant to capture a personality rather than a likeness — through color, movement, softness, confidence, and mood.

Together, the collection is a love letter to mid-century glamour, beautiful interiors, gathering around the table, and the women who understood that style was never just about what you wore — it was about the entire world you created around you.
